Vehicle Fitment

This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

  • Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (Z32): 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996

  • Nissan Fairlady Z (JDM): 1989–2000

  • Compatibility Note: While the long block is identical across these years, 1994+ models utilize different camshafts and gears. Ensure you match your specific year during the external component swap.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your 300ZX’s electronics and emissions status, professional technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

  1. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifolds. JDM versions lack specific emissions ports (EGR) and vacuum connections required for North American OBD compliance.

  2. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive (RHD) and will not reach the ECU location in a USDM chassis.

  3. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft (CAS), Crankshaft, and Knock Sensors. Nissan electronics are sensitive; using your original "known-good" sensors prevent intermittent signal issues.

  4. Oil Pressure Sender: The JDM oil pressure sender is located on the passenger side to clear the RHD steering rack. For USDM fitment, you may need to relocate or swap the oil tree/sender to the driver side.

  5. Fuel Injectors: Early Z32s (1990–1992) used "Phase 1" injectors, while 1993+ (and 1995+ Twin Turbo) transitioned to "Phase 2." Ensure your injectors and fuel rail match your factory wiring harness.
