This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

  • Honda CR-V (LX, EX, EX-L): 2007, 2008, 2009

  • Chassis Compatibility: RE3 (FWD) and RE4 (AWD) chassis.

  • Compatibility Note: This is the K24A engine. It is a direct mechanical replacement for the USDM K24Z1. While the long-block is identical, certain external accessories must be transferred from your original motor to ensure 100% compatibility with North American electronics.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your CR-V’s emissions and drivability, professional Honda technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

  1. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions often lack specific vacuum ports, EVAP sensors, or oxygen sensor bungs required for North American OBDII emissions compliance.

  2. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your CR-V’s chassis bulkheads or fuse box.

  3. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors, as well as the Knock Sensor. Honda electronics are highly sensitive; using your original "known-good" sensors prevents intermittent signal issues or CEL codes.

  4. Crankshaft Pulley: Inspect the JDM crank pulley. If the pulley offset or belt-rib count differs, swap your original USDM Crank Pulley to ensure perfect alignment with your alternator and A/C compressor.

  5. Water Housing: Swap your original USDM Water Outlet and Thermostat Housing to ensure all radiator and heater hoses align perfectly with your North American cooling system.

  6. VTEC Solenoid: Inspect the JDM VTEC solenoid. If the connector differs from your USDM harness, transfer your original USDM VTEC Solenoid and Pressure Switch.
