This transmission serves as a direct replacement for the following North American models:

• Mazda 3 (s, Touring, Grand Touring): 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009

• Chassis Code: BK

• Compatibility Note: Specifically for the 2.3L Naturally Aspirated engine. It is not compatible with the 2.0L (which uses a 4-speed in early years) or the Mazdaspeed 3 Turbo models.

JDM to USDM Installation & Technical Guide

To ensure 100% OBDII compliance and prevent the "AT" warning light from illuminating, professional Mazda technicians recommend these critical steps:

• Solenoid & Sensor Transfer: You must transfer your original USDM Transmission Wiring Harness and Solenoids to the JDM unit. While the internal gears are identical, the electrical plugs on JDM units can vary; using your original electronics ensures the TCM (Transmission Control Module) communicates without error.

• Range Switch: Reuse your original USDM Neutral Safety Switch (Range Sensor). This ensures your dashboard gear indicator and starting circuit function perfectly.

• Oil Cooler Flush: It is mandatory to flush the transmission cooler inside the radiator. If your old transmission failed due to burnt clutches, metal debris trapped in the cooler will destroy your "new" JDM transmission within miles.

• Fluid Requirements: Use only Mazda M-V (M5) ATF or an equivalent high-quality fluid specifically meeting FNR5 specifications. Do not use Mercon V unless the bottle explicitly states it is compatible with Mazda M-V; they are not the same fluid and using the wrong one will cause harsh shifting.
