This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

Subaru Tribeca: 2008–2014 (Compatible long-block)
Chassis Compatibility: BM (Sedan) and BR (Wagon) 3.6L models.
Compatibility Note: This is the EZ36 Flat-6. It is not a direct replacement for 2.5L 4-cylinder models (EJ25 or FB25) without a complete wiring and drivetrain conversion.
To ensure 100% compatibility and a "plug-and-play" experience with your North American ECU, professional technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:
Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifolds. JDM versions may have different vacuum port configurations or lack specific emissions bungs required for North American OBDII compliance.
Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your Legacy’s chassis bulkheads or fuse box.
Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors to the JDM block. Subaru electronics are highly sensitive to sensor voltage variances; using your original "known-good" sensors ensure perfect timing synchronization.
Oil Pan & Level Sensor: Inspect the JDM oil pan. If your USDM model is equipped with an oil level sensor and the JDM unit is not, you must transfer your original USDM Oil Pan and Sensor.
Water Housing: Swap your original USDM Water Outlet and Thermostat Housing to ensure all radiator and heater hoses align perfectly with your North American cooling system.
Cooling Note: Since the EZ36 is a Flat-6, ensure the cooling system is properly burped of air during the first start to prevent localized hot spots.
