This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

• Mini Cooper S (Hatchback): 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

• Chassis Compatibility: R53 (Hatch) and R52 (Convertible) Supercharged models.

• Compatibility Note: This is the Supercharged W11. It is not a direct replacement for the naturally aspirated Mini Cooper (W10 engine) without extensive modifications.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your Mini’s specialized electronics, professional technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

1. Supercharger: While the engine is out, we strongly recommend changing the supercharger and retaining your original.

2. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your Mini’s chassis bulkheads or ECU location.

3. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: Transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. This ensures all vacuum lines, sensors, and oxygen sensor bungs align perfectly with your North American emissions system.

4. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Crankshaft and Camshaft Sensors. Mini/BMW electronics are highly sensitive; using your original "known-good" sensors prevent intermittent signal issues or CEL codes.

5. Cooling System: Inspect the JDM water pump and thermostat housing. We recommend swapping your original USDM Water Outlet to ensure all radiator and heater hoses align perfectly.
