Vehicle Fitment

This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

• Toyota RAV4 Hybrid: 2016, 2017, 2018

• Compatibility Note: This is the Atkinson Cycle engine. It is NOT compatible with non-hybrid 2.5L RAV4 models (which use the 2AR-FE). Ensure your vehicle is a Hybrid model before ordering.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your RAV4’s hybrid system synchronization and emissions status, professional technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

1. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions may have different vacuum port layouts and lack specific emissions bungs required for North American OBDII compliance.

2. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your RAV4’s chassis bulkheads or the Hybrid Control Unit.

3. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors. Toyota hybrid electronics are highly sensitive; using your original "known-good" sensors prevents intermittent signal issues or hybrid system fault codes.

4. Coolant Components: Transfer your original USDM water pump (if electric) and thermostat housing to ensure the connectors match your factory harness.

5. Flywheel / Dampener Plate: Ensure you use the original USDM Hybrid Dampener Plate (flywheel equivalent) to ensure perfect alignment with the eCVT transmission.

6. Accessories: Utilize your original USDM A/C compressor and brackets to ensure perfect fitment within the RAV4 Hybrid engine bay.
