Vehicle Fitment

This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

• Lexus GS300: 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005

• Lexus IS300: 2001–2005 (Requires swap of original oil pan & accessories)

• Lexus SC300: 1998–2000 (VVT-i models only)

• Compatibility Note: This is the VVT-i version of the 2JZ-GE. It is not a direct replacement for 1993–1997 Non-VVT-i models without extensive wiring and ECU modifications.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your Lexus’s refined emissions and drivability, professional technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

1. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifolds. JDM versions often lack specific EGR ports or oxygen sensor bungs required for North American OBDII emissions compliance.

2. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your GS300’s chassis bulkheads or fuse box.

3. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors to the JDM block. Toyota electronics are highly sensitive; using your original "known-good" sensors prevents intermittent signal issues or CEL codes.

4. Oil Pan: Inspect the JDM oil pan. If the donor vehicle was a different chassis (like a Crown or Aristo), you must transfer your original USDM GS300 Oil Pan and Pickup Tube to ensure proper subframe clearance.

5. VVT-i Gear: While the engine is out, we strongly recommend inspecting the VVT-i intake cam gear for oil leaks. Replacing the O-ring now is a vital preventative measure.

6. Accessories: Swap your original USDM Alternator, Power Steering Pump, and A/C Compressor to ensure all electrical connectors and bracket offsets align perfectly.
