This transmission serves as a direct replacement for the following North American models:

• Subaru Tribeca (Base, Limited, Premium): 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014

• Chassis Code: WX

• Compatibility Note: This is the high-torque 5EAT designed for the 3.6L engine. It is not compatible with the 2006–2009 3.0L EZ30 Tribeca or CVT-equipped Outback/Legacy models. Always verify the transmission code on the driver-side B-pillar or VIN plate.

JDM to USDM Installation & Technical Guide

To ensure 100% OBDII compliance and a smooth swap, professional technicians recommend these "External Swap" steps:

• Solenoid & Harness Transfer: You must transfer your original USDM Transmission Wiring Harness and Speed Sensors to the JDM unit. JDM plugs and pin-outs can occasionally differ; using your original harness ensures your Transmission Control Module (TCM) sees the correct data.

• Transmission Cooler Flush: It is mandatory to flush the internal radiator cooler and auxiliary lines. The EZ36 engine generates significant heat, and any debris left from a failed transmission will cause the JDM replacement to overheat and fail prematurely.

• Tail Section / Rear Sensor: Check the rear tail section sensor. In some cases, you may need to swap your original USDM Tail Housing or sensor to match the drivetrain configuration of your specific USDM model.

• Fluid Requirements: Use only Subaru ATF-HP or an equivalent high-quality fluid meeting Subaru's high-torque specifications. Avoid generic "Universal" fluids, as the 5EAT’s VTD-AWD system is highly sensitive to friction modifiers.
