This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:
Subaru Impreza (2.0i, Premium, Limited, Sport): 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015
Subaru XV Crosstrek: 2013, 2014, 2015 (Direct block compatibility)
Chassis Compatibility: GP (Hatchback) and GJ (Sedan) models.
Compatibility Note: This is an FB-series engine. It is not compatible with 2011 and older Impreza models equipped with the EJ25 series engine.
To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your Subaru’s sophisticated emissions tuning, professional technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:
Intake Manifold: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold. JDM versions often have different vacuum port configurations, EGR sensors, or PCV routing that will trigger a Check Engine Light (CEL) in North American chassis.
Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your LHD bulkhead or ECU.
Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors to the JDM block. Subaru ECUs are highly sensitive to sensor voltage variances; using your original "known-good" sensors ensures a seamless "first-turn" start.
Oil Pan & Sensors: Inspect the JDM oil pan. If your USDM model is equipped with an oil level sensor and the JDM unit is not, you must transfer your original USDM Oil Pan and Sensor.
Exhaust Manifolds: Swap your original USDM Exhaust Manifolds. JDM headers may lack specific oxygen sensor (AFR) bungs required for California or Federal emissions compliance.
Cooling System: Swap your original USDM Water Outlet and Thermostat Housing to ensure all radiator hoses and heater lines align perfectly.
