Vehicle Fitment

This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

• Honda Ridgeline (RT, RTS, RTL): 2006, 2007, 2008

• Chassis Compatibility: YK1 (First Generation)

• Compatibility Note: This is the Non-VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) version of the J35. It is a direct fit for early Ridgelines that do not utilize cylinder deactivation.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and a seamless "Plug-and-Play" installation into your USDM Ridgeline, professional Honda technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

1. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifolds. JDM versions may have different vacuum port locations or lack the specific EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) ports required for North American emissions compliance.

2. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are built for right-hand drive and will not interface with your Ridgeline's chassis bulkheads or fuse box.

3. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors to the JDM block to guarantee perfect communication with your Honda ECU.

4. Oil Pan & Pickup: If the JDM engine was sourced from a different chassis (like an Odyssey), verify the oil pan shape. If there are clearance issues with the Ridgeline's subframe or 4WD transfer case, swap your original USDM Oil Pan and Pickup Tube.

5. Water Housing: Swap your original USDM Water Outlet and Thermostat Housing to ensure all heater and radiator hoses align perfectly.
