To ensure 100% compatibility and a seamless "bolt-in" installation, professional Honda technicians recommend the following steps:
Transfer Case: Inspect the JDM transfer case included with the unit. If the mounting points or gear ratios differ from your USDM rear differential, you must transfer your original USDM AWD Transfer Case to the JDM transmission.
Sensors & Switches: Transfer your original USDM Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) and Reverse Light Switch to the JDM unit. This ensures the electrical connectors plug directly into your factory wiring harness without modification.
Clutch & Flywheel: While the transmission is out, we strongly recommend installing a new clutch disc, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. Ensure the flywheel is resurfaced or replaced to prevent clutch chatter.
Shifter Linkage: Retain and use your original USDM Shifter Linkage and Bushings. JDM linkages may be configured differently for right-hand drive cabin layouts.
Fluid Requirements: Use only high-quality Honda Genuine Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF). Avoid generic gear oils, as they can cause syncro-grind and premature wear in Honda B-Series transmissions.
