This engine is compatible with the following Mazda models equipped with the 2.0L FS-series engine:
Mazda 626: 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002
Mazda Protege / Protege5: 2001, 2002, 2003
Note: Also compatible with certain Mazda MPV (1999-2002) models (2.0L versions).
Pro Tip: Because JDM engines are sourced from vehicles with different emissions standards, you should plan to swap your original Intake Manifold, Exhaust Manifold, and Sensors from your old engine to the JDM long block to ensure 100% plug-and-play compatibility with your US-spec ECU.
Installation Notes
Timing Belt & Water Pump: While the engine is out, we highly recommend replacing the timing belt and water pump for long-term peace of mind.
