This unit is dressed and sold primarily as a direct drop-in replacement for the Mazda CX-7.

Long Block Installation Notes

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION WARNING: Direct-injected turbocharged engines operate under extreme fuel rail pressures and tight mechanical clearances. To protect your investment and maintain parts warranty protections, ensure your installer follows these steps:

1. Transfer USDM External Accessories & Turbo Hardware: This assembly is sold strictly as a Long Block (assembled engine block, cylinder head, oil pan, and internal moving components). You MUST swap over your vehicle's original intake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbocharger assembly, intercooler piping, alternator, power steering pump, and A/C compressor.

2. Reuse Your Original Wiring & Sensors: JDM engine wiring harnesses are cut short during vehicle dismantling in Japan and are configured for right-hand drive architectures. Discard the JDM sub-harness and route your original USDM engine wiring loom. Additionally, transfer all of your original vehicle sensors (Crankshaft Position, Camshaft Position, and Water Temperature sensors) to guarantee error-free plug-and-play communication with your factory ECU.

3. Address the Timing Chain & VVT Actuator: The Mazda 2.3L DISI engine is well-known for factory timing chain stretch and variable valve timing (VVT) actuator wear over time. While the replacement JDM engine is resting accessible on the shop floor, we strongly recommend inspecting and replacing the timing chain components and VVT gear with a brand-new factory kit to ensure long-term bulletproof reliability.

4. Change Out External Gaskets & Seals: Replace the front crankshaft seal, rear main seal, and install fresh valve cover gaskets before sliding the engine block against your factory transmission.

5. Fluid & Maintenance Protocols: Refill the engine exclusively with high-quality 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil alongside a new premium oil filter. Because this engine utilize direct injection, always use top-tier fuel and inspect your high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) lines for an absolute seal during assembly. Flush the radiator completely to remove any residual scale or debris before firing.
