This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

• Toyota Matrix XRS: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

• Pontiac Vibe GT: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

• Toyota Celica GT-S: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005

• Lotus Elise / Exige: (Compatible as a high-quality replacement block)

• Compatibility Note: This is the High-Output 2ZZ. It is not a direct replacement for the Matrix Base/XR (1ZZ-FE) without a complete ECU and wiring conversion.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and a seamless "Plug-and-Play" installation into your USDM Matrix, professional Toyota technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

1. Lift Bolt Replacement: While the engine is out, we strongly recommend installing the Revised Toyota Lift Bolts. These are an inexpensive maintenance item that ensures your VVT-L system engages perfectly every time.

2. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifolds. JDM versions may have different vacuum port locations or lack the air injection ports required for North American emissions.

3. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your Matrix's chassis or ECU.

4. Sensors & Injectors: Transfer your original USDM Knock Sensor, Water Temp Sensor, and Fuel Injectors to the JDM block. This ensures your original ECU reads perfectly calibrated data.

5. Water Housing: Swap your original USDM Water Outlet to ensure all radiator and heater hoses align perfectly with your North American cooling system.
