Vehicle Fitment

This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American ZZT230 Generation models:

• Toyota Celica GT: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005

• Chassis Cross-Compatibility: Also fits 2000–2008 Toyota Corolla, Matrix (Base/XR), and Pontiac Vibe (Base).

• Compatibility Note: This engine is for the Celica GT and is not compatible with the Celica GTS (2ZZ-GE).

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and a seamless "Plug-and-Play" installation into your USDM Celica, professional installers recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

1. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions may have different vacuum line routing or lack the specific emissions ports (EGR/O2) required for US smog compliance.

2. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft Sensors, Crankshaft Sensor, and Knock Sensor to the JDM block to ensure the ECU receives signals it recognizes.

3. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your North American chassis or fuse box.

4. Valve Cover: If your USDM Celica has specific PCV valve locations or breather hose configurations, swap your original Valve Cover onto the JDM engine.

5. Flywheel/Flex plate: Ensure you use the flywheel (Manual) or flex plate (Automatic) that matches your specific transmission.

6. Oil Pan: Inspect the JDM oil pan; if the shape differs slightly from your original, swap your USDM pan to ensure proper oil pickup and ground clearance.
