However, the Acura MDX utilized specific cylinder head configurations, intake manifold sizing, and unique camshaft profiles to generate higher horsepower ratings. This unit is direct-fit for the 2003–2006 MDX platform. If you intend to swap this into a Pilot or Odyssey, you may need to transfer your original brackets, oil pan, and accessories to match your specific vehicle chassis.

Long Block Installation Notes

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION WARNING: This assembly is provided strictly as a Long Block (assembled cylinder head, engine block, oil pan, and internal moving components). To protect your investment and maintain parts warranty protections, ensure your installer follows these instructions:

1. Transfer USDM External Accessories: You MUST swap over your vehicle's original intake manifold plenum, top decorative covers, engine mount brackets, fuel rails, fuel injectors, exhaust manifolds, alternator, power steering pump, and A/C compressor.

2. Reuse Your Original Wiring & Sensors: JDM engine wiring harnesses are cut short by Japanese exporters and configured for right-hand drive (RHD) cabin layouts. Discard the JDM sub-harness and route your original USDM engine wiring loom. Additionally, transfer all of your original vehicle sensors (Crankshaft Position, Camshaft Position, Knock Sensor, and Coolant Temperature sensors) to ensure seamless communication with your domestic factory ECU.

3. Mandatory Timing Belt Maintenance: While the engine is resting safely on an engine stand, you MUST install a brand-new timing belt, timing belt tensioner pulley, idler pulley, and a new water pump. Timing components on JDM engines sit in storage and should always be renewed before drop-in assembly.

4. Change Out External Gaskets & Seals: Replace the front crankshaft seal, rear main seal, and both valve cover gaskets before sliding the engine block against your factory automatic transmission.

5. Fluid Protocols: Fill the replacement engine with premium 5W-20 or 5W-30 motor oil alongside a new OEM-spec oil filter. Flush your radiator completely to remove any old scaling or debris before filling the cooling loop with fresh Genuine Honda Type-2 Blue Coolant.

6. Shaving Starter Hole: Please be aware, you will need to shave down the hole for the starter to properly fit the starter in place otherwise it will touch the block and not fit accordingly.
