This transmission serves as a direct replacement for the following North American models:

• Subaru Forester (X, Premium, L.L. Bean Edition): 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010

• Subaru Impreza (2.5i): 2006–2011 (Verify 4.11 ratio compatibility)

• Compatibility Note: This is for the Non-Turbo 2.5L models. Please verify your transmission code (located on the driver-side strut tower sticker) to ensure you have a 4.11 ratio unit.

JDM to USDM Installation & Technical Guide

To ensure a perfect install and prevent binding in the AWD system, professional Subaru technicians recommend these critical steps:

• Final Drive Verification: You must confirm your rear differential ratio is 4.11. Installing a 4.11 transmission with a 3.90 or 4.44 rear differential will cause immediate and catastrophic damage to the center differential.

• VSS & Electrical: Reuse your original USDM Speed Sensor (VSS) and Reverse Light Switch. JDM plugs can vary; transferring your original sensors ensures your speedometer and lights function perfectly with your factory harness.

• Clutch Components: Since the transmission is removed, this is the ideal time to install a new Clutch Disc, Pressure Plate, and Throw-out Bearing. Always inspect the Clutch Fork and Pivot Ball for wear, as these are common failure points on Forester manuals.

• Fluid Requirements: Use only high-quality 75W-90 Gear Oil. Subaru manual transmissions are highly sensitive to fluid; we recommend Extra-S or a high-zinc GL-5 rated oil to ensure smooth synchro engagement and long bearing life.
