• CRITICAL AWD COMPATIBILITY NOTE: This unit is configured strictly for Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) models. It does NOT feature the output case mounts required to accept a transfer case for All-Wheel Drive (AWD) layouts. It will also NOT fit the larger 3.5L V6 found in the IS350. Please verify your vehicle's engine size and drive configuration before completing your purchase.

6-Speed Transmission Installation Notes

SERVICE ADVISORY: Modern luxury multi-speed automatic gearboxes rely on precise hydraulic pressures and advanced electronics. To protect your investment and maintain parts warranty coverage, your installer must follow these professional guidelines:

1. Transfer USDM Electronics & Sensors: JDM core wiring harnesses are configured for right-hand drive (RHD) chassis layouts and overseas module communication protocols. You MUST remove the JDM external wiring sub-harnesses and reuse your original USDM transmission wiring harness, external neutral safety switch, and all input/output vehicle speed sensors.

2. Mandatory Transmission Cooler Flush: When an automatic gearbox fails, it sheds microscopic friction materials and metallic debris directly into your radiator cooling loop. You MUST thoroughly hot-flush the transmission cooler lines and external heat exchanger before installing this replacement unit. Failing to do so will wash old metal flakes into your clean JDM unit, destroying its intricate valve body solenoids instantly.

3. Seating the Torque Converter: Ensure the included torque converter is fully slotted and stepped down into the internal fluid pump engagement splines before sliding the bellhousing against the V6 engine block. If forced together when misaligned, you will warp or crack the internal oil pump gear.

4. Change Out External Seals: Take advantage of the transmission resting on the shop floor and replace the front pump/torque converter input seal, shift selector shaft seal, and the rear tailshaft output seal.

5. Strict Fluid Requirements: This unit does not use a traditional transmission dipstick. Refill the transmission casing exclusively with Toyota/Lexus Genuine ATF World Standard (WS) fluid. Avoid generic, multi-vehicle automatic transmission fluids, as they break down under varying operational temperatures and cause premature clutch wear. Always check and set the final fluid level using the factory temperature-overflow procedures.
