JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

When swapping a JDM 2AR 2.5L Transmission into a USDM (United States Domestic Market) RAV4, follow these steps to ensure seamless computer communication and performance:

  1. Neutral Safety Switch: Transfer your original USDM Neutral Safety Switch (Range Sensor) to the JDM unit to ensure the ECU recognizes all gear positions (P, R, N, D, S).

  2. Torque Converter: Ensure the JDM torque converter is fully seated before mating the transmission to the engine block. We recommend using the converter provided with the JDM unit if it matches your spline count.

  3. Transmission Cooler: Flush your vehicle's existing transmission cooler and lines thoroughly to remove any debris from the previous failed unit before installation.

  4. Fluid Requirements: Only use Toyota ATF WS. Do not use generic ATF, as the U760E is highly sensitive to fluid viscosity.
