This transmission serves as a direct replacement for the following North American models:

• Honda CR-V AWD (LX, EX): 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001

• Chassis Code: RD1

• Compatibility Note: This is for the AWD/4WD model. If your CR-V is Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) only, you will need the 2WD variant of this transmission, as the AWD casing includes the necessary output for the rear driveshaft transfer assembly.

JDM to USDM Installation & Technical Guide

To ensure 100% OBDII compliance and a smooth swap, professional Honda technicians recommend these "External Swap" steps:

• Solenoid Transfer: You must transfer your original USDM Shift Solenoids and Harness from your old transmission to the JDM unit. JDM plugs and electrical resistance values can occasionally differ; using your original solenoids ensures the ECU recognizes the components instantly.

• Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS): Reuse your original USDM Speed Sensor. This ensures your speedometer remains 100% accurate and prevents any cruise control or ABS communication errors.

• Transfer Case Check: Ensure the JDM transfer case output flange matches your USDM driveshaft. In some cases, it is easier to swap your original USDM Transfer Case onto the JDM transmission housing for a perfect fit.

• Fluid Requirements: Use only Genuine Honda ATF-DW1 (or the older Z1 equivalent). First-gen CR-V transmissions are highly sensitive to fluid quality; avoid generic "Multi-Vehicle" fluids to prevent harsh shifting and premature internal wear.
