This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:

• Toyota Echo (Coupe & Sedan): 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005

• Scion xB / xA: 2004, 2005, 2006

• Compatibility Note: This is the non-hybrid version of the 1NZ. It is a direct "plug-and-play" long-block for the Echo chassis.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your Echo's emissions compliance, professional technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

1. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions often lack specific vacuum bungs or the oxygen sensor configurations required for North American OBDII systems.

2. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your Echo's dash or fuse box.

3. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors to the JDM block to guarantee perfect communication with your Echo's ECU.

4. Water Housing: Inspect the JDM water outlet. If the heater hose angles differ from your original setup, swap your original USDM Water Housing.

5. Oil Pan: Check the JDM oil pan for any shipping or forklift damage. If the pan is dented, swap it with your original USDM pan to ensure proper oil pickup clearance.
