JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your Vibe's performance electronics, professional technicians recommend the following "External Swap" steps:

  1. Lift Bolt Replacement: Even on low-mileage JDM units, we strongly recommend installing new Revised Toyota Lift Bolts while the engine is out. This is a common maintenance item to ensure the "Lift" transition remains seamless and doesn't fail.

  2. Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifolds. JDM versions may have different vacuum port locations or lack the specific air injection ports required for North American emissions.

  3. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your chassis bulkheads or ECU.

  4. Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Knock Sensor, Water Temp Sensor, and Oil Pressure Sensors to the JDM block to guarantee perfect communication with your original ECU.

  5. Cooling System: Swap your original USDM Water Outlet to ensure all radiator and heater hoses align perfectly with your North American cooling system.
