This transmission serves as a direct replacement for the following North American models:

• Toyota Tacoma 4WD (SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road): 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

• Toyota 4Runner 4WD (4.0L): 2003–2009 (Check sensor configuration)

• Toyota FJ Cruiser 4WD: 2007–2009

• Compatibility Note: This is specifically for the 4.0L V6. It is not compatible with the 2.7L 4-cylinder models. Please verify if your truck is a Pre-Runner (2WD) or a True 4WD, as the tail housings and transfer case outputs differ.

JDM to USDM Installation & Technical Guide

To ensure 100% OBDII compliance and factory-spec shifting, professional Toyota technicians recommend these steps:

• Internal Harness & Solenoid Swap: You must transfer your original USDM internal wire harness and solenoids to the JDM unit. JDM electrical plugs often vary; using your USDM electronics ensures the ECU receives the correct resistance values, preventing "Check Engine" lights or harsh shift codes.

• Speed Sensor (VSS): Reuse your original USDM Speed Sensors (Input/Output). This ensures your speedometer, cruise control, and ABS systems remain 100% accurate.

• Transfer Case: While this unit typically includes a JDM transfer case, we recommend inspecting the output flanges to ensure they match your USDM driveshafts. Many installers choose to bolt their original USDM Transfer Case onto the JDM transmission for a guaranteed fit.

• Fluid Service: These transmissions are "Sealed" units from the factory (no dipstick). Ensure you use Toyota ATF WS (World Standard). Follow the proper overflow-plug level check procedure at the correct operating temperature to ensure the fluid level is perfect.
